What is being an otaku about? It’s about the cool and the hot. Cool Robots and Hot Girls that is.
Hot. You get it? You see what I did there? Because hot is like to burn, which is moeru 燃える in Japanese, which is a homonym of moeru 萌える, to bud, which is where moe comes from? Yeah… I didn’t think so.
Anyway, here is a blog post featuring some random pictures I took of three different super robot figures that I bought over the past half-a-year that I never got round to posting. Namely, Gunbuster, GaoGaiGar and Aquarion. Enjoy.
A quadruple month update is finally here! Venture forth into the longer than usual update post as I share with you the stuff I got and my opinions on them! As I don’t really want to flood the front page with a barrage of pictures, do click on the button below to view the post in its entirety.
In a brilliant attempt to circumvent me running out of steam doing a day-by-day recount of my trip, this time, I’ll be writing just one post featuring only the juicy bits – Akihabara, Comiket (doujins) and more!
I’ll organize this post by sections that go in chronological order. At the end of the recount, will be a section that is dedicated to all the acquisitions that I got during my trip.
Without further ado, here we go!
(Warning! Image intensive and somewhat NSFW. Also, the changing aspect ratio of the pictures is due to the fact that a number of them were taken with different cameras.)
I’m not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this video, but after many years of searching through online stores, auction sites and local stores, I have finally completed my Kamen Rider 555 (Faiz) rider gear collection, together with custom replica gear boxes that are recreated to precisely match the ones in the show and I would like to share them with you guys.
This video is also meant to be a one stop showcase video of all the Kamen Rider 555 Rider Gear.
Jenya’s lovable bunny partner is kick-ass in both his Champion and Ultimate modes. What with one having Gatling Guns for hands and another being a cybernetic bunny that can move at blazing speeds.
We take a look at yet another classic but obscure figure from Japanese Digimon Tamers line of Digivolving figures. This time, it’s none other than the iconic Crimson Knight himself, Dukemon! …or as he is known in the US, Gallantmon.
Sporting a brand new mould, transformation and accessories, here’s hoping that he will be able to vanquish the darkness that is the US Digivolving Gallantmon figure. Read the rest of this entry »
While I don’t usually review S.H.Figuarts figures, I just could not, not review this one. Not only is Kamen Rider 555 my all time favorite Kamen Rider series, Faiz’s Axel Form is my absolute favorite form of the main hero. In fact, it was precisely because of Axel form that I was so captivated by the series when I first watched it way, way back.
Stay till the end for a short ‘stop motion’ movie that I made and a rant on how Faiz Axel does NOT travel at the speed of sound.
