2013 Japan Trip Highlights and Acquisitions!

January 15, 2014

DSC01263

In a brilliant attempt to circumvent me running out of steam doing a day-by-day recount of my trip, this time, I’ll be writing just one post featuring only the juicy bits – Akihabara, Comiket (doujins) and more!

I’ll organize this post by sections that go in chronological order. At the end of the recount, will be a section that is dedicated to all the acquisitions that I got during my trip.

Without further ado, here we go!

(Warning! Image intensive and somewhat NSFW. Also, the changing aspect ratio of the pictures is due to the fact that a number of them were taken with different cameras.)

Actar in Japan… Part 2! – Day 1: Tired Touchdown

July 13, 2012

Yup, as of writing this, it’s 9:45pm and I have arrived in Japan. Well, more accurately, I arrived more than 12 hours ago. Gonna keep this post short and sweet because I’m dead tired.

Actar in Nakano Broadway and Mandarake

August 10, 2010

If you are an Otaku, other than Akihabara, chances are you’ve probably heard of Nakano Broadway, home of Mandarake. For those of you who don’t know, Mandarake has a whole series of shops with each one dealing with a different type of good. These shops have a ton of second hand stuff that one can usually find terrific treasures at amazing prices. Usually, the ‘opened/used before’ item will yield a lower price. Of course, there were other dealers there selling their wares.

The Singapore equivalent of Nakano Broadway would be China Square Central, just about 7459235326 times more awesome. Or was it 7459235327 times?

Actar’s Reviews 158: Densha Otoko’s Getsumen To Heiki Mina Figure

July 11, 2010

キタ━━━━(゚∀゚)━━━━!!

Today, we shall be taking a look at the closest and most affordable replica of Yamada’s Mina figure from the metafictional Anime ‘Getsumen To Heiki Mina’ from the hit modern day Japanese love story ‘Densha Otoko’.

While I usually don’t review completed PVC figures due to the fact that there isn’t really much to talk about unlike action figures, dolls or merchandise, I’m making an exception this time.

Actar in Akihabara

February 11, 2010

The first of possibly a number of videos, chronicling my experince in the land of Anime to Figures and beyond. (^.^)

What better way to start than to show you guys a snippet of my time in Akihabara – The fabled land of Otaku… (Day 1 and 2 of my trip)

This video focuses more on the stores of Akihabara and proves that Akihabara really is, Otaku heaven. I mean… WOAH. And that was just one store.

While the video only shows the inside of Radio Kaikan, more details of the places and the various stores I visited, like Gamers, Toranoana, Animate and more, along with accompanying pictures, can be seen by clicking the ‘Actar in Japan’ tab. (^.^)

Actar in Tokyo – Day 2: Again Akihabara and Navigating Nakano

December 28, 2009

Mmm... English.

The sun rose bright and early. However, I didn’t. Dead tired from yesterday’s adventure, I didn’t wake till 10pm. By then, the city was already bustling and hustling with folks going about their daily business. Of course, it’s the year end holidays, so no School Girls to be seen. Aw… (TT.TT)

Actar in Tokyo – Day 1: Aches and Akihabara

December 27, 2009

That's not me in the picture. Seriously.

Hey guys, typing this from my hotel in Shinagawa at 12am Japan Time. It’s the Grand Prince Takanawa and it has a gorgeous and pristine Japanese Garden just outside! Perfectly compliments the chilly air that can dip to a bone-numbing -2 degrees Celsius.
