Loot posts have now officially become the obligatory “I’m not dead yet!” posts! The days become busier and busier as I approach the second semester of my final year in University. But enough about that, let’s get on to the merchandise!

Everything after the jump!

Here’s the video version of my most recent custom doll project, replacing the Pure Neemo Doll body of Azone’s 1/6 Misaka Mikoto with a 25cm Obitsu Doll Body.

CDP: Misaka Mikoto Onee~sama

December 1, 2010

Well, stock image from Hobby Search due to me forgetting to take a picture of Mikoto before swapping bodies. (^.^;)

Nowadays, Azone’s 1/6 scale dolls utilize the Pure Neemo doll bodies. They look nice, but are horrendously lacking in the articulation department. Let’s just count the points of articulation that Pure Neemos offer.

1 – Neck, 2 – Shoulders, 2 – Upper Arms, 2 – Elbows, 2 – Wrists, 1 – Waist, 2 – Legs, 2 – Thigh, 2 – Knees, 2 – Feet

Altogether, that’s only 18 points of articulation. Not to mention, they are all cut joints that look good, but only offer a single direction of movement. While they could get away with this with non-action girls like the cast of K-On!, having Mikoto restrained to such a limited range of poseablility is a no-no.

A House for my Daughter

December 1, 2010

Well, there’s the phrase “People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”. Here, my new version of this phrase is “Magical Girls who live in acrylic cases shouldn’t wield gigantic magical intelligent axes”.

Anyways, joking aside, I have finally completed my doll case for Feito~chan. The base and stand comes from the set recommended to me by SleeplessOtaku. However, I didn’t really like the flimsy plastic case and decided to get one custom made. Thanks to my friend for getting this done for me within a week. (^.^) Nice huh?

Also, I spent quite a bit of time trying to get the cape looking decent. How does it look?

CDP: Creating My Dream Sakura Doll

November 18, 2010

Being a self-proclaimed die-hard fan of the series Cardcaptor Sakura and the titular heroine, Kinomoto Sakura, I have been simply distraught over the fact that up to this date, no ‘good’ figure of Sakura has been released. From what I’ve gathered after prowling through auction sites and CCS Fan Sites, the only completed PVC figures of Sakura were all lower quality prize figures or trading figures. As for dolls/action figures, Bandai has released an entire plethora of ‘Bendy Dolls’ in their old ‘Free Pose Selection” range.

The main bodies of these dolls are made of a bendy plastic/rubber type material. While they do look good in some poses while appearing seamless, they look awkward in others and are a chore to pose.

What is one to do in this situation?
