Yup, as of writing this, it’s 9:45pm and I have arrived in Japan. Well, more accurately, I arrived more than 12 hours ago. Gonna keep this post short and sweet because I’m dead tired.
Alright. It’s time to stop making excuses, blow the dust off this blog and get thing’s back up and running!
WARNING: This post has not gone through any editing or proofreading.
since I’ve updated this blog and I do apologize to the people who are kind enough to constantly come and read what I have write. Of course, I won’t make excuses, though “the new school semester has started and it’s exceedingly hectic” is a pretty good one. Not to mention, I really do need to work on my time management… With the Fall Season approaching, I do also need to finish up the shows that I’m currently following and those that I’ve not been following so faithfully.
If you want to know which shows I’m following, they are: Nichijou, Steins;Gate, Usagi Drop, YuruYuri and Kaiji. Shows that I’ve fallen behind on but want to finish are Hanasaku Iroha, Tiger & Bunny, Kamisama Dolls, Kamisama no Memo-chou, Dantalian no Shoka, Mayo Chiki!, IdolM@ster and No. 6. All this while juggling homework, projects and tests. Quite a severe undertaking if I do say so myself. I’m also watching Bokurano, which I’ve been enjoying thoroughly. Great mecha Anime that is more of a human drama than anything else. Really Madoka-esque as well, what with children dying for the higher order of things. Come to think of it, both of them even has a cutesy pink and white animal mascot thing that has ulterior motives as well… Hm…
With regard to new purchases, as you shall see (or already have seen) in the next post, I haven’t had any loot posts in awhile as I just have not been buying anything. Instead of getting the usual releases of the latest figures, I have decided to complete my Kamen Rider 555 Rider Gear collection. And now that it is complete, I can finally get back to spending any extra cash on the usual figmas and whatnot.
Finally, I’m working on getting a proper Actar’s Reviews site off the ground, so do look forward to that as well.
While my 21st Birthday is technically on the 29th of June, I had a pretty extravagant celebration with numerous family and friends this past Friday. Being a pretty special occasion (as 21st Birthdays usually are), a pretty special decoration cake was made with none other than adorable Loli Fate! (^o^)
The cake is gigantic. The picture of Fate is made by putting together numerous individually colored pieces of fondant icing. The effect is simply phenomenal. The cake itself is made of fondant, marzipan (almond icing) and regular cake with layers of cream with strawberries.
Apologies for not providing any more pictures, but in the flurry of excitement and proceedings, the cake was chopped up and devoured before I had the chance to do so. (^.^;)
You could say that I literally ate Fate out. (The jokes keep getting worse and worse don’t they?)
Birthday loot (and everything else I got this month) soon!
I have a confession to make. Sometimes, when I should be studying, I make stuff out of paper card. What do I mean? Well, some of the ‘projects’ that I were more proud of were my transforming paper Transformers. There were basically something like a 2D Optimus Prime that when folded, would yield a 3D truck. In short, I love looking and analyzing the transformation process of robots and recreating it with paper.
So anyways, awhile back, around September 09, I was fuming over how there weren’t any ‘perfect change/transforming’ Getter Robo figures that didn’t cost a billion dollars (because Getter Robo is one of my all time favorite Super Robots). It was then I decided to make one for myself… out of paper.
And now, I’m sharing the fruits of my labor with you guys. (^.^)
…I didn’t buy much, but I did score on this brilliant Lucky Star wall scroll. After the jump would be my brief convention report…
Well, it’s that time of the year again. Yup, AFAX or Anime Festival Asia X (my local Anime and Japanese pop culture convention) is right round the corner. It’s held on the 13th and 14th of November at the Suntec City Convention and Exhibition Halls, and as always, I’ll be attending.
After nearly 7 years of using my old laptop, an Acer Ferrari 4000 laptop, as my main machine, I decided that it was time for an upgrade. Presenting my brand new desktop set up. (^.^) Hopefully, I’ll be able to use this one for a good long time to come.
Most of my figures have been moved off the shelf, being replaced by Fate, the CPU itself and my external HDs. Do excuse the horrendous mess as I’m right in the middle of arranging everything to accommodate my new computer.
Er… Hi. As many of you would have probably noticed, recently, there hasn’t been much going on here aside from updates pertaining to new Actar’s Review episodes and Loot posts… Even my reviews have been becoming more and more irregular.
Do I have a good excuse? Not really, aside from the fact that my real life has been pretty busy now… Cliche, I know, but it’s the truth. My mid-terms just ended about a weeks ago and I have finals (Next month… ARGH!!!) and project deadlines fast approaching. Considering the fact that it’s my first semester of University, I’m still trying to get used to the system.
I know that many of you enjoyed the numerous articles that I’ve written in the past, dealing with relatively controversial issues in Anime fandom. Don’t worry, it’s not like I have no material left or have lost interest in writing, it’s just that it does take a considerable amount of time (gathering info, structuring my arguments, writing legibly, etc…) to complete one and I don’t have the luxury. Any free time that I do have is devoted to earning money for figures, creating figure reviews, catching up on a crazy backlog of Anime and sleeping. Though, rest assured that I do have about 5 to 10 articles that I’m currently working on, bit by bit, and should be putting them up one by one.
Aside from that, I do have some things that I want to talk about.
If you are an Otaku, other than Akihabara, chances are you’ve probably heard of Nakano Broadway, home of Mandarake. For those of you who don’t know, Mandarake has a whole series of shops with each one dealing with a different type of good. These shops have a ton of second hand stuff that one can usually find terrific treasures at amazing prices. Usually, the ‘opened/used before’ item will yield a lower price. Of course, there were other dealers there selling their wares.
The Singapore equivalent of Nakano Broadway would be China Square Central, just about 7459235326 times more awesome. Or was it 7459235327 times?
