Wow, I can’t believe that it has been already two weeks since I last posted. Time really passes by in a blink of an eye during the school holidays…
Last week, I celebrated the One Year Anniversary of Actar’s Reviews. For those of you who don’t know, I also have a YouTUBE channel where I review figures, toys and more. Here’s the Anniversary video, though the Contest would probably have ended by the time you are seeing this. You won’t believe how long it took to pose Figma Konata and take a picture that matched my previous avatar.
Of course, please head over to Actar’s Reviews to take a look at where it all started. Lots of Figure reviews.
I’ve personally been visiting dannychoo.com for quite some time and it will definitely be an honor to meet him.
AFA08 is creeping up on us as well! The event will be held on the 22nd and the 23rd of November at Suntec. It is going to be a blast. What with numerous big names, figure exclusives and tons of dealer rooms, I can’t wait! A pre-event post will be coming soon. Convention going tips anyone?
I’ll do either a blog post or a video coverage of both events.
~ Actar’s November Anime Watch List ~
In this section, I’ll be sharing you what I’m currently watching and my opinions about the series. Plot summaries from Wikipedia. Yes, I’m that lazy. (-.-)
Now, for the Anime that I’m watching, let’s start with the Ongoing ones.
1. SKIP BEAT!
Summary: It is the story of Kyoko Mogami, a 16-year-old girl who discovers her childhood friend, Sho Fuwa, who is an aspiring pop idol as well as the boy she loves, only keeps her around to act as a maid and earn money. Furious and heart broken, she vows to get revenge by beating him in show business.
2. To Aru Majutsu no Index
Summary: Set in a city of scientifically advanced superhuman students, but in a world where magic is also real. Toma Kamijo’s right hand, the Imagine Breaker, will negate all magic, psychic, or divine powers, as well as his own luck. One day he finds a young girl hanging on his balcony railing. She turns out to be a nun from the Church of England, and her mind has been implanted with the Index Librorum Prohibitorum—all the magical texts the Church has removed from circulation.
Needs more Mikoto.
Summary: Jin decided to use a piece of the sacred tree to carve a statue for his middle-school project andwhile moving it outside, it happens to touch the ground and transforms into a very cute girl. She is Nagi, a Shinto spirit, the guardian of the village and she is pissed that her sacred tree was cut down. Having no place to live, Nagi is forced to move in with Jin and tries to accept her new existence by taking out her anger in squashing bugs….er, cleaning the “Impurities”.
Nagihas a rival in a little sister guardian deity, who lives in a shrine located on the other side of the river. Well, Zenga-chan has woken up too and decides to become a top teen-idol of the village, much to Nagi’s dismay.
4. Clannad ~ After Story ~
Summary: Plot Summary: Tomoya Okazaki is a third year student labelled as a delinquent. Everything seems to be unchanging for his school life until he meets Nagisa, and Tomoya finds that his life is about to change. He starts to have dreams of a bleak world and meets a girl who has the ability to fuse junk together in order to create things, and doing so, creates a body out of junk for him. He is then reborn into this empty world andfollows around the girl, the only two existences who are “alive.” (ANN)
5. Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae (Season 3)
Summary: Jigoku Shoujo, the Hell Girl. Enma Ai, what has become of her? At the end of last season she became separated from subordinates; so what will happen to Ichimoku Ren, Hone-Onna, and Wanyuudou now? What stories of hatred, lasting grudges, and revenge are being prepared for us this time?
What I have to say:
That’s all the series I’m watching from this Fall Season. Though I have yet to watch Chaos Head, Yozakura Quartet and Gai Rei Zero, the above 4 are really my favourites.
Some good advice that I can impart is to not judge an Anime by its cover. I wasn’t even going to touch Skip Beat!. However, when I watched the first episode, the story and characters just sucked me in. The same goes for Kannagi. Who’d expect a goddess to be that awesome? For series such as Kemeko DX, which I was highly looking forward to, turned out to be a slight disappointment due to the randomness. I also kinda dislike the character of the male lead. Same for To-Love-Ru.
Clannad ~ After Story ~ delivers all the awesomeness that the first season did. One of the few Animes to ever make me Man-Cry. Lastly Jigoku Shoujo is a really misunderstood series from my point of view. Many people avoid it as they think it is a horror series. However, it is not scary at all. In fact, it is one of the few Anime that presents different situations from our society with such accuracy. A must watch as well.
As for Completed Series, the one I’m most hooked on is,
As of writting this, I’m up to episode 14. What a great series this is. The allusions to the first Macross series in the first episode were awesome. The animation is also gorgeous. Does anybody else like the VF-27 design? I’m going to get the figure the moment they are released.
So, this has been one of the few update posts and ‘Anime Watch List’ posts that will appear on this blog from time to time. Hope you guys are doing well, and see you soon.
